Everyone knows there are hundreds of stray cattle roaming on the road in India. Road traffics or blocks are often caused by these animals with road accidents. A serious problem has been arises due to these stray cattle roaming freely on the streets.

At night, this problems becomes worst as the drivers are unable to spot these animals due to darkness. Normally vehicles move at a high speed hence creating a risk of lives to the occupants and these animals, too.

Cows roaming on the road are not healthy. They don;t get grass or other hygienic food to consume. They survive on the food present in garbage and leftovers. This increases the risk of disease or sickness to the cow. Eating meat of such animals and drinking milk can be more dangerous to our health.

These cows comes from illegal or unregistered roadside diaries or cattle shed. Many comes by actually left by their owners due to old age, stop giving milk or owner cannot afford them anymore.

State government initiatives for this issue :

  • Uttar Pradesh is in the process of setting up 5 cow sanctuaries besides 426 Gaushalas which are already built up.

  • Rajsthan state government is spending Rs. 50 per cattle per day to any one for the good living of stray cattle.

  • Delhi government hired 150 cow catchers who will catch 10 cows per day.

Solution :

  • Dairies should be built outside the city.

  • Creating huge Gaushalas which can tale care of these street cows.

A woman in the group of American tourists visiting Amber fort near Jaipur filed a complaint with PETA. A group of eight men including Mahout, was beating an elephant, who tried to escape from the discomfort of carrying tourist uphill in extreme heat.

Jaipur is very common for excessive violence with elephants. A detailed research of elephants, used in rides and other tourists activities , organized by experienced veterinarians animal-welfare experts from PETA, Wildlife SOS, Animal Rahat in Kerala concluded that many elephants are weak, ill due to lack of food. All elephants suffered from physical ailments. Their owners do not have valid ownership certificate.

P.C. - PETA INDIA

The Honorable high court of Kerala, made it mandatory to register the elephants, used in rides, with AWBI (Animal Welfare Board of India). In spite this, none of the elephants used in rides in Jaipur are registered with AWBI.

Elephants in kerala are in much pain. Even the Mahouts beat them with iron-tipped wooden sticks, spiked chains, even pierce their sensitive ears and drills holes into their tusks.

Elephants usually walks upto 50 kilometers daily for food, but these captive elephants are constantly chained and forced to stand at one place causing foot problems. Visually impaired or injured elephants also forced to carry people under sun blaze.

Beating elephants, giving them painful injuries is really cruel. Usually Mothers do not wean baby elephants until they are 10 years old but these cruel captors separate them at the age of 3 years only.

Join PETA in calling on authorities in Jaipur to protect one of India's most sacred animals by putting an end to all elephant rides in the area immediately.

Put an end to elephant rides in Jaipur.

There are thousands of homeless animals in every shelter. Majority are young and healthy. It's really heartbreaking but there are many ways to do something for them without spending money and without leaving the home, too.

Ways To Help Homeless Pets :

  1. Don't buy, Choose adoption : If you're thinking to buy any pet, choose adoption first. There are thousands of homeless pets waiting to get their forever home and with a little research you can find a suitable pet for your home. Adopting from a shelter is like saving two lives. First one is of course, the pet you are adopting. And making a space for a new in shelter.

  1. Educate : Get complete knowledge and educate other people on the importance of adopting a homeless pet. How can they help save lives by just adopting a pet.
  2. Donate supplies : If you don't have a budget to sponsor any cash to shelter, you can donate supplies which are just there at your home. Just like a blanket, towel. Shelters use these blankets for animals to sleep or rest. You can even offer food, animal toys and other pet supplies.
  3. Social media help : The local shelter has many animals which are waiting to get a new home. You can upload their profiles which will help them get a lovely, forever home. If you have anyone looking to buy a pet, ask them to visit the shelter and adopt a lovely pet as per their needs. Such a small help will certainly change their life.
  4. Foster : There are many animals in a shelter and the space is less. You can foster a dog or cat till they find their forever home.
  5. Volunteer : Spend time in your local shelter by helping them fill food bowls, give fresh water, get animals to a walk, grooming and more.

Be sure to care for homeless animals by not creating more homeless animals. Give time, love to your own pets. Care for them.

Animal shelters are overflowing with dogs, cats. These animals are waiting to get a new, loving home. But the basic questions is why these animals gets abandoned?

After a lot of research and from my own experience, i found the main reasons for abandoning animals are :

  • Moving to a new home
  • Pets are not allowed by new landlords
  • No space in new home for pets
  • Allergy if any new member joins the family
  • Personal problems
  • No time to take care of pets
  • Pet illness
  • Biting
  • Maintenance not affordable
Many a times, owners left animals alone in the room itself while moving. They get noticed after the four closer process, when the realtor or bank enters the home. These animals may die due to lack of food and water, some though survive but with a poor condition.

Behavioral problem is the main reason for dogs to get abandoned. This may be biting or aggression. But these are common issues like barking. Most of the issues may get fixed, but owners do not know this, due to lack of knowledge.

Would you leave your own child in old apartment when moving to a new home? Definitely, NO.
Then why these poor animals get this type of treatment after being loyal to you. They trust on you. Where would they go? They really gets confused, what to do without you.

If you've any new member joining your family and having allergy, always remember, allergy can get treated. This is not fare to abandoned your own pet for such a small reason.

Through outreach and education, we can reduce the number of animals coming to animal shelters. Many shelters do have printed information on how to easily cope up with adopted animals behavioral problems. Some shelters do provide phone support to go through this problem. Being an animal caregiver, you should give your 100% commitment to your pet. Shelters helps educate people for this.

Before adopting any pet, you should really think on how you will handle the behavioral issues. You can take the help of shelter people. This will certainly help reduce animals to get abandoned.

Write to me, if you know anyone who have abandoned their pets. What are the ways to prevent it from your point of view.

In every country, except China, Dogs can be police officers, service dogs, emotional support for abused children, a child's best friend, a family's loyal pet and more.

China, Yulin conduct dog meat festival every year. This festival starts in summer on 21st June every year which lasts for 10 days where more than 10,000 dogs including pups get consumed.  Large number of dogs are stolen from their loving families, rest are stray dogs and the dogs raised in dog farm.

These dogs are forced to travel without food and water, in a tight cage, for days one over the other where they can't even move a bit. At Yulin, these dogs are hanged, burned, skinned, boiled, torched and beaten that too ALIVE. This all goes on the streets in front of public. Moreover, they tortured these poor animals in front of other animals so that they get stressed and feared.

The belief behind this torture is while they are still ALIVE, more the animals have run fear through their blood, more tasty their meat will be.  It also gives the men more sexual stamina, keep them cook during the hot summer.

The tradition of eating dog meat is around 400 years old. Dog meat traders started this event to boost up the business.

Animal welfare activist have been trying for years to get this horrible tradition banned. Unfortunately, government of China is giving some reasons to avoid this ban. We need to send the petition to the old generation people, who still believe in this tradition of eating dog meat.

We are the 20th century generation and we believe that this act is cruel and inhuman. The poor animals do not deserve this type of treatment and millions of people across all the countries are against of it.

We should boycott Chinese products until they ban this act.

Sign this petition to convince China's government, how cruel this act is. And they should better ban this festival.
